Insects, Arthropods and Molluscs

Millipede(White Legged Snake Millipede)Tachypodoiulus niger
One of around 50 species (who knew?) of millipedes in the UK, the name is a bit of a misnomer as they generally have 100 legs, 2 pairs of legs per segment of their body. They are vegetarians eating mildew and rotting vegetation, useful nutrient recyclers. When intimidated they will curl up and release pungent fluid from their sides.
